At Little Rituals, we aim to transcend the conventional shopping experience; we're a community, a sanctuary, and a celebration of mindful living. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that small acts connect us to the most sacred moments in life and one another.
As the founder and curious leader, I strive to invite folks to explore daily practices that bring profound peace and well-being into their lives.
We carefully select and curate the shop, sourcing items from regional artisans and herbalists to socially-responsible, environmentally conscious makers from across the globe. Each piece in our boutique tells a unique story woven together through the threads of intention.
We are proud that Little Rituals is more than a shop; it's an ode to connection – to ourselves, each other, and the land we call home. Founders, Brooke and Nick, established LR in April 2022 with little retail background, but with the bold idea of crafting a shopping experience that offered customers a sense of curiosity and sanctuary.
It unfolded in January 2022 when they were presented with the idea of, “Do you want this commercial space and if so, what would your vision be for it?” Brooke’s background as a yoga, reiki, and sound practitioner had her longing for more than just a shop; she longed for a space that felt communal, provoked curiosity, and shared ways/practices for folks to find joy & connection in their everyday lives.
She and Nick then began to brainstorm what kind of business they would want to bring into the world and share with their community. They both agreed that what was amiss on the island, was a shop that offered mystical curiosities and items that invited deeper holistic living.
They started seeking makers, products, and companies that embodied their own value of intention & sustainability, lining their shelves with items made on the OBX, to the mountains of NC mountains, and beyond. Their guide for curating the shop was their ethos: that we are all interconnected in this world. That, how we live, spend, eat, tend to ourselves, and move through life… ripples out into the greater world and creates lasting change.
Nick and Brooke have long standing connections with Ocracoke. Nick grew up on the island and they serendipitously met there in the fall of 2010. They then worked seasonally between Utah and North Carolina before settling in the Mountains of NC for 9 years. It was in 2020 they moved back to the quaint sandbar that once brought them together and that would forever be a home place.
Their hope is that the little nook they’ve cultivated will continue to invite customers toward conscious living through ritual & heartfelt connection.
