Slowing Down Practice for Self-Nourishment & Care

Below you will find a short Self-Care practice that you can weave into parts of your day or week that support you in slowing down, nourishing yourself, and tuning into what your body & mind need in this moment.

This is a simple, yet powerful, practice that helps us witness, with love, what is present in our mental, physical, and even energetic bodies.

Research shows that laying hands on the body, in a gentle soothing way, literally releases “healing hormones” of oxytocin, serotonin - signaling to the body feelings of trust, anti-stress, and acts like a balm to the nervous system.

When we are in over drive - which our culture supports us being in a perpetual state of burn out - our nervous system’s health suffers. And the health of our nervous system affects our mental health and gut health.

Just taking a moment to slow down to consciously connect with body + mind can offer us deep nourishment and expand our self-awareness of what our needs are.

I hope this practice serves you well + supports you during these times… XO

Journaling for Self-Exploration:

  • Where in my life do I need to let go & slow down? Where can I say “no” to something so I may “yes” to myself & my needs?

  • What mental tensions am I holding onto that are not mine or that no longer support me towards peace & well-being?

  • Where can I surrender control to welcome ease & peace?

  • How can I commit to welcoming this self-care practice, or another, into my daily life for health & well-being?
